Techno-economics of algae production in the Arabian Peninsula

چکیده
The Arabian Peninsula’s advantageous climate, availability of non-arable land, access to seawater and CO2-rich flue gas, make it an attractive location for microalgae biomass production. Despite these promising aspects, the region has seen very few studies into commercial feasibility algae-based value chains. This work aims address this gap through a techno-economic study algae production costs, comparing different photobioreactor types, locations, scales. Flat panel raceway pond cultivation systems were found be most economically systems, with costs as low 2.9 €·kg?1. Potential cost reductions up 42.5% 25% could accomplished improvements in photosynthetic efficiencies increased culture temperatures, respectively. As such, efforts source local thermo- photo- tolerant strains key unlock potential commercialization, linking food, feed nutraceutical industries.

Zoonoses in the Arabian Peninsula
The human population is rising and will soon reach 9 billion people. In parallel, the demand for animal protein is increasing and with it is the threat of zoonotic diseases. We must therefore be on our guard. The close association of people with animals promotes the opportunity for zoonotic infections and real danger may arise when animals are imported with no health background. Therefore, it i...

Economic attractions of Arabian Peninsula had brought about residence of some followers of divine religions in Yemen, Najran, north of the peninsula, and partly in Oman. Some Arab tribes in Bahrain also had converted to Christianity before Islam. The appearance of Islam required new relationships with Christian communities and lead to a different interaction with them under a new order. The pol...

متن کاملFirst Dinosaur Tracks from the Arabian Peninsula
BACKGROUND The evolutionary history of Mesozoic terrestrial vertebrates from the Arabian Peninsula is virtually unknown. Despite vast exposures of rocky outcrops, only a handful of fossils have yet been described from the region. Here we report a multi-taxon dinosaur track assemblage near Madar village, 47 km north of Sana'a, Republic of Yemen. This represents the first dinosaur tracksite from ...
